After trying many things on my Accent CS snare to stop 2 of my tension rods from backing out in minutes – new lug locks, new swivel nuts, new tension rods, new batter hoop & head, new sleeved washers, etc. – it turned out to be the Bowtie lugs, themselves.
Of course the Bowties I refer to are the China made ones with a 2 inch spacing, & finding lugs with a 2” spacing was not an easy task, as the USA ones that are easier to find are 2 & 3/16" … that is, until I found Drum Factory Direct.
DFD sent me several links to different lugs with an even 2” spacing, and I settled on these DC-018 in Chrome.
Problem solved! Not only do they look great, they work great!
No more tension rods backing out.
In fact, these Cocktail lugs almost look meant to be on this snare.
