6.5x14 Black Hawg Brass Snare Shell, No Holes, Black

I bought this shell to make a "Black Beauty" clone by adding Imperial lugs and a P-85 strainer. The shell is rolled and welded and not spun like real BB shells. I have an aluminum Supraphonic shell that literally rings like a bell because of the way the shell was spun. This brass shell has a tone of c# with a lot of overtones. Not nearly as clear as the spun aluminum shell. But, I put a coated Ambassador ont he top, hazy Ambassador on the bottom, and 16 strand Pure Sound snares. I played two different gigs this weekend and it sounded great! The tone is focused and fat. I haven't heard a real BB in thirty years, but my clone is exactly what i was looking for. I highly recommend this shell.
