I put S Hoops on all my snares these days, if not batter and resonant, then at least the batter hoop is an S Hoop. Much easier on the wrists when doing rimshots, I've certainly noticed the difference when playing a drum with non S Hoops. In terms of sound I think they give a balance between diecast and triple flange hoops. I've placed them on entry level snares and heard a significant improvement in the sound quality. Certainly worth experimenting with them if your yet to try them.
