I purchased the batter and snare side S-Hoops for my 1960’s Ludwig snare drum and I immediately heard the difference in sound. The attack and controlled resonance brought this drum into focus. The old 2.3mm triple flanged hoops needed to be tweaked to get the sound I was looking for, and I needed to use the internal damper to control resonances. After installing the S-Hoops, I play the drum wide open with no damping whatsoever. Truly, the S-Hoop is revolutionary and I purchased them after seeing an interview with Gavin Harrison, not having any any idea what to expect. They completely exceeded expectations and from now on will be my go-to hoop!
