Gibraltar George Way Beer Tap Snare Drum Strainer and Butt Plate

I bought this from you guys and I'm not 100% happy with it... not your fault, but it seems to me that the distance that the "throw" (or tap looking end) doesn't have a large enough distance from off to on. In other words, the snare wires in the off position do not go low enough to be off: It doesn't move the wires low enough away from the head. When I turn the snares off but play really hard, the snares will still sound. As if the movement of the head slaps the snare wires (because they don't go low enough below the head) It is bizarre. Has anyone else had this problem? I love the design, but maybe I need to move it up so that it's higher on the shell. If I can't get it solved I would have to rate this design very flawed. If you have any insight, feel free to share it. (note: the drum is custom built by me / keller shell / drilled / edges, etc.) Sounds great with the snares on!
