The heads arrived Friday (couldn't believe how quickly they got here - thanks), and the Black Dawg arrived today. I have had enough time to change the heads, get it tuned up and play it some -- its GREAT! I'm very pleased with the sound, and the look of the drum. I have a Ludwig COB 5" here which is a friend of mine's (tube lugs & diecast hoops) - and I definitely like the Worldmax better. It has just slightly less ring & is a touch darker in sound (the difference I suspect between a Ludwig COB & a Black Beauty). I really like the drum!
Thanks for your help in picking out the right model, and offering it at such a great price. I look forward to playing it for many years to come, Lord willing.

granadillo shell for free floater
The granadillo shell is great!! Used it on my last three gigs, two of which were yesterday and Saturday, both outdoors. The drum sounded great! My sound guy (who doesn't really get excited about much) said he really liked it. Lotsa projection and good body, just like you described. He compared the attack and projection to the 6-1/2 acrylic I have...the consensus is a big thumbs up. Great job!!
